Operational Excellence Award
France - Cannes Yachting Festival 2024: How to Reinvent Ourselves!
From dealing with the closure of part of the port, effectively taking away key exhibiting space, and a major storm that severely damaged some of the exhibitor structures, the show opened on September 10, 2024, welcoming as many exhibitors (640), boats (700), and visitors (55,000) as in 2023, with two new areas, new entrances, new restaurants, and new floating walkways. Last but not least, instead of an expected revenue decrease because of the works, the show revenue actually grew 9.3% YoY.
This entry demonstrated to the judges that with a great can-do mindset and with everyone pulling together, regardless of their role, the show can always go on.
Net Zero Hero Award
Australia - Waste Expo Australia: Leading the Journey to Net Zero Waste
Sustainability is more than a goal; it’s a responsibility. The RX Australia team committed to an ambitious mission for 2024: “Journey to Net Zero Waste.” This commitment was not just about incremental improvements but about setting a new standard for sustainable events. It required us to rethink our practices, collaborate, and transform the way Waste Expo operated—from its planning stages to move-out. The success of Waste Expo Australia 2024 is a testament to what can be achieved when sustainability is embedded into every aspect of an event.
Event of year over $25 million
UK - ILTM Cannes 2024
ILTM Cannes finished £5m above sales targets and grew 29% vs 2023: the best performance in ILTMs 24-year history. All key KPIs were grown significantly - including 33% New Business Growth and 10% improvement on FTR. There were 85,000 pre-scheduled meetings across the week, close to 10,000 people in attendance and the entire team worked collaboratively to ensure the pre-event efforts were matched by the delivery during the week. A truly tremendous effort from all involved with big bets that paid off.
Event of the Year less than $25 million
USA - PGA 2024
The 2024 PGA Show achieved remarkable success, surpassing previous records for attendance, exhibitor satisfaction, revenue and contribution. Starting in 1954, the event has evolved into a vital platform for the $102 billion golf industry, serving as an essential venue for innovation and business connections, and for kicking off the new season.
Despite external expectations that the PGA Show could face a post-pandemic decline, we proactively invested in enhancing key industry growth areas and made several big bets which ultimately led to double-digit growth and exceeded expectations in attendee engagement, exhibitor participation, and education content.
The Show also achieved the highest revenue and contribution in SHOW HISTORY thanks to the collaborative high functioning team and placing some key big bets that paid off.
Best Digital Activation at an Event Award
Japan - Full-Scale Implementation of Mercury/Emperia to 52 show clusters
In 2023, we embarked on a bold, historic challenge: introducing an entirely new digital solution—Mercury and Lead Manager—into Japan’s exhibition culture. This was not merely a transformation; it was a revolution. In 2024, we embraced a new challenge, rolling out Mercury and Emperia across all 52 exhibitions at once. Hesitation would only delay progress, so we committed fully: “If we do it, we go all in.” The judges remarked that this was a truly bold and brave approach, and it paid off. By working closely with our global team, RX Japan overcame every challenge, adapted to local needs, and executed a seamless transformation with 1,263,630 total badges pre-registered, 673, 717 visitors scanned by Lead manager app and in so doing marked a new era in Japan’s exhibition industry.
