Fans Took Over the Seattle Convention Center for a Weekend of Must-See Guests including “Star Wars” Star John Boyega, “Hannibal” Co-Stars Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy, and “Firefly” Cast Members, Iconic Comic Creators and Top Exhibitors
MARCH 14, 2025- Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) wrapped up another successful weekend of all things pop culture, as nearly 90,000 fans made their way through the Seattle Convention Center from March 6 through March 9 to see their favorite celebrities, comic creators, and more. This past weekend’s ECCC is projected to have generated an estimated economic impact of $24.6 million for Seattle, according to the city's official tourism bureau Visit Seattle.
At this year’s ECCC, fans got their fill of award-winning comic artists, anime creators, and TV and film stars, all while celebrating pop culture. Among this year’s must-see guests were reunions from big-name casts like Hannibal co-stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen, Firefly cast members Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Gina Torres, Morena Baccarin, and Sean Maher, and Starship Troopers cast members Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards, Dina Meyer, and Michael Ironside, who brought a major punch of nostalgia to the show. The incredibly talented John Boyega, best known for his roles in Star Wars, Attack the Block, They Cloned Tyrone, and Pacific Rim Uprising, took the stage to discuss everything from his career journey to his favorite anime, while seats filled for additional guest appearances by Star Trek: Strange New World’s Anson Mount, Celia Rose Gooding, Ethan Peck, and Melissa Navia; and Dragon Ball Z stars Chris Sabat, Justin Cook, and Sean Schemmel.
Con-goers took over the show floor, where they could find aisles of the latest merch representing their comic and entertainment favorites from exhibitors like Penguin Random House, PureArts, CGC, Mad Cave Studios, and more. Over 450+ Artist Alley participants filled the space, allowing fans to interact with some of the most talented names in art and comics, including James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children, Nice House on the Lake, Department of Truth), Geof Darrow (The Shaolin Cowboy, The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, The Matrix), Darick Robertson (The Boys, Transmetropolitan), Kim-Joy (Turtle Bread, Bake Me a Cat, Great British Bake Off) and Amy Chu (Carmilla: The First Vampire, Red Sonja, Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life & Death). Also not to be missed was ECCC’s Writers Block lineup, which featured TJ Klune (The House in the Cerulean Sea, Somewhere Beyond the Sea), and Cassandra Clare (The Shadowhunter Chronicles, The Ragpicker King), among others.
“Year after year, the Seattle community continues to show us what a passionate fan base they are. It’s incredible to see how this show has grown, and we are delighted to have provided con-goers yet another way to not only experience their favorite aspects of pop culture in person, but to truly connect with each other like never before,” said Kristina Rogers, VP of ReedPop US Comics Portfolio and Star Wars Celebration.
