Buyers found advanced technology solutions for supply chain management
Mexico City, September 10th, 2024 - Top Flotillas and LOGEX, events that shape the annual business gathering ensuring direct contact between suppliers and buyers in the transportation and logistics sectors, held their latest edition from September 3 to 5 at the Paradisus Hotel in Playa del Carmen, where they promoted "one-on-one" meetings, networking, and attended conferences.
During the opening, Luiz Bellini, General Director of RX, the company organizing both events, commented that the purpose of this business meeting is to bring together leaders from the logistics and fleet transportation markets. "We are interested in contributing to the strengthening of these industries, and therefore, we invite you to take advantage of the B2B (Business to Business) meetings we have scheduled to build the future of these sectors."
Lucía Ferreira, General Manager of Top Flotillas and LOGEX, highlighted that in this edition, more than 2,500 meetings were scheduled between over 400 attendees, including suppliers of products, technology, and services related to freight transportation, logistics, and supply chain, as well as buyers from companies across the country. The event also featured the participation of important industry associations such as AMAFA, ConaLog, ANTT, and AMAVE, among others.
"We have designed these two events in an appropriate environment so that our buyers can establish long-term connections and generate new business opportunities, as well as share knowledge to develop and elevate their businesses to the next level. All of this is in favor of their companies, generating a business volume of up to over 146 billion pesos as recorded by each participant."
Attendees had the opportunity to witness the business panel "Electromobility and nearshoring, the key points of the new government," led by Sandra Aragonez and Héctor Romero, spokespersons for both events. They commented on the importance of this type of meetings, noting that almost 75 percent of goods transported in our country are moved by land through the highway infrastructure, and this forum allows for the exploration of trends and proposals to generate better practices in this sector.
They also pointed out the opportunities offered by nearshoring, highlighting that our country should capitalize on production costs that are almost 18 percent lower than in China. Additionally, transportation costs in China have increased by nearly 20 percent over the past year. "On the other hand, the World Bank ranks us in the 35th position for ease of doing business, far ahead of Brazil, which is in the 104th position. We must capitalize on these opportunities while addressing our weaknesses," they both noted.
As part of the three-day event, there were specific activities for the leaders present, such as the workshop "What else can I measure about my fleet?" led by Geotab; the business talk "Decarbonization" by Element Fleet; and the conference "Analyzing the major challenges facing our country" by Erick Guerrero Rosas. There were also opportunities to initiate new business contacts and observe demonstrations of products, technology, vehicles, and parts, among others.
During his turn at the conference, political and financial analyst Erick Guerrero Rosas presented the talk "Mid-term review: The country that is inherited after 6 years," highlighting several advantages that Mexico has to become a global logistics power, thanks to our geographical position and the benefits provided by projects such as the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, which could even replace the Panama Canal due to its great commercial potential.
"This Corridor could reduce the transportation of goods to just one day, which would increase trade through our territory, or the project to connect the port of Mazatlán with the port of Tampico with an extension to Dallas, Texas, could be completed. We are close to finishing it, and that's why I affirm that our country can become a logistics powerhouse."
To close the event, Lucía Ferreira announced that once the current edition concludes, RX will begin preparations for the next edition of Top Flotillas and LOGEX, which will take place from September 2 to 4, 2025, at the same Paradisus Hotel in Playa del Carmen. "See you then!"
